Many GWAS studies associating polymorphisms to increased risk of alzheimers, parkinsons disease, vascular
dementia, stroke, and cerebrovascular atherosclerosis - but no evidence of mendelian disease.

Functional analysis indicates an inframe deletion (p.Glu155del) results in an affect on protein, but is commonly referred to as a polymorphism - found in >10% of a chinese cohort
